For those who have to pay income taxes to the State of West Virginia, Faith in Action Caregivers, Inc. Wheeling, WV can help you reduce the amount of taxes you pay to the state. Donations of $500 or more are eligible for tax credits of 50%. (A $500 donation gets tax credits of $250; a $1,000 donation gets tax credits of $500, etc.) Faith in Action Caregivers has a little over $6,000 in tax credits that we would like to distribute by March 14. The tax credits can be used to reduce your tax liability for personal income taxes, business franchise taxes or corporate net income taxes. We recommend that you consult your tax preparation professional about the benefit of the credits for your situation. Credits are different from the federal deduction you get for a charitable contribution if you itemize on your federal return. Qualifying contributions must be received in our office by March 14.
