For those with an interest in what is transpiring within the School District - and every taxpayer should be - please, please come out and attend the Board of Supervisors Meeting Nov. 5th, 7:30 PM, Schuylkill Township Building. This is a PUBLIC HEARING. Any concerns you may have regarding the resulting change to our community if the former Meadowbrook Golf Course is re-zoned MUST BE VOICED. Below is a copy of a letter that I, as well as other residents, have sent to the Board of Supervisors. We need everyones support. PLEASE SHARE. 10/12/14 To: The Schuylkill Township Board of Supervisors: As a Schuylkill Township resident and homeowner on Meadowbrook Lane, I strongly oppose the re-zoning of the former Meadowbrook Golf Course from its current R2 to the proposed PFZ. Meadowbrook Golf Course was taken by Eminent Domain, citing hardship for a site to build an Early Learning Facility. The present zoning accommodates an Early Learning Center, which was the supposed intent of the Phoenixville Area School Board. Plans have evolved from the need for an education center to one of immense proportions. The current proposal includes an athletic facility comprised of 6 ball fields, PA systems, spectator stands to accommodate 1,000 people, concession stands, walking and bicycling trials, to mention a few. I also take offense that an Ordinance has been drafted that, if passed, will further develop this property that adjoins our homes, as well as permit five feet (5’) property line setbacks, all of which will negatively affect our quality of life and property values. Development of this nature and scale is not in keeping with Schuylkill Township’s commitment to preservation of “open space”. By approving the re-zoning of this property, the Board of Supervisors will be giving carte blanche to PASD to develop and build with few, if any, restrictions and without regard to the current Township residents, whose lifestyle will be significantly compromised. Any development of this land aside from the Early Learning Center should be requested via variances, not via a permanent zoning change. Otherwise, the landscape and character of Schuylkill Township will be forever transformed. It is the responsibility of the Board of Supervisors, as representatives of the township residents, to ensure this does not come to pass. Sincerely, Bernadine Clayton
