For todays update: Jenn has yet again defied the odds and is in stable condition. She is still swollen from all of the fluids that she hasnt processed. But she is comfortable and stable. She is still alert and able to carry on an intelligent conversation when she isnt sleeping. We as a family met with the hospice consultant. Per Jenns wishes, she is going to go with the hospice in home program. She will continue to be on her pca pump to control her pain. A nurse will be by the house everyday to change out the medicine in the pump and to do a quick assessment. Another nurse will be in weekly to do her vitals, as well as order anything new for her care. A nurses aid will be by 3 times a week to assist with household routines, such as baths and other care forms. We will also be supplied with an emergency care kit to maintain her pain if it becomes too overwhelming for her. This will be to hold her over until an on call nurse can make it to the house and make an assessment on wether she needs her pump adjusted or needs to be transferred into the hospice facility. We know and have heard all the stories from other family members and friends who have dealt with hospice before, and all of those personal experiences were weighed in her decision. We looked at every possible situation and circumstance, good and bad of all types of treatment left for her. Anyone who knows her story, knows that Jenns case is unlike any other persons. Even the doctors have said on 3 different occasions, they dont know how or why she is still here. So hopefully tomorrow will be a smooth transition back to the house, and this could very well be her last wish. She wants to be at home. So who are any of us to question or deny that wish. I ask that everyone else show the same respect to her wish, and just leave it at that. We know this is the final leg of her journey, so while she is able to make her own choices, I, and everyone else will honor those wishes, like it or not. When the day comes that she cant decide for herself, I will weigh the options, discuss and take into consideration the wishes of family, and make the decisions that need to be made. I love all of you from the bottom of my heart and thank each and everyone of you for your continued support and prayers in these darkest of days.
