For two years now, I have been staying in the Philippines, the land of my birth. I have enjoyed the beautiful traits of my people; e. g., graciousness like hospitality; kindness expressed in the inclination to give and to share what is on their plate; to help whenever help is needed. And for the most part, industriousness. This industriousness entails doing what is needed to bring food on the table. I see people engaged in peddling different items to earn a living, no matter how little the profit may be. Now that I live here during many months of the year, the weaknesses and infamous character traits of my people glare at me. I have ignored them, concentrating on their good side....
