For what its worth, my game summary: Gaining, then losing a 2-run lead - twice. Fault - Cardinals Making an ill-advised wild throw to 3rd base with the lead runner already out and Kozma on deck. Fault - Red Sox. Allen Craig safe at home because Middlebrooks was blocking the basepath. Fault - No one. The basepath belongs to the runner. The correct call was made, and intent on the part of either player does not matter. Even with interference, the call was close at home plate, and the umpires essentially ruled that Craig would have beaten the throw home had the basepath not been obstructed. MLB is to be commended for recent efforts to get the call right. No pitcher should ever again lose a perfect game due to a blown call. Tonight, like it or not, the umpires got the call right.
