For years Ive seen the deterioration of family. Everyone talks about divorce and the bad effects it has on the children involved. Then, there are those who bring friends into the family fold, bringing them into every family gathering, despite the fact that there is no family tie to those people at all. Then, theres the ones who call friends, aunts, uncles...grandparents, sister or brother, even mom or dad, despite there again being no family tie whatsoever. And, finally theres this thing on social media where its passed around encouraging people to look for family ties with their friends instead of with their family, because friends make better family than family does. Im not saying its wrong to love being with friends or to create special memories with them, but I was raised that family was first, friends second. You stood with family against the world...but not in todays society...todays society picks and chooses who their family is and if you dont meet whatever requirements this new family has youre just left out in the cold to fend for yourself.
