For years, as a columnist, security specialist, and overall sports addict, I have been hopeful that Boston would succeed in its efforts to host the 2024 Summer Olympics. I have spent considerable time in government managing complex sports events, have several sports clients now, and also know that cities like London managed to host without losing themselves and also gaining much: bostonglobe/opinion/2012/08/26/london-shows-new-model-and-better-way-for-olympics/HHhExd6Jeki1rBM8xoAP6O/story.html I know its not without controversy, but the planning and efforts that have animated the Boston2024 team are inspiring as well as realistic. This is an effort Im happy to stand behind as the US Olympic Committee makes its final decisions about which host city will advance. Appointed a new member of the Boston2024 Executive Committee, and its Technology and Innovation Subcommittee, I look forward to helping their bid, including their security planning and global outreach plans.
