For you weather geeks out there, here is the latest look at the models and my thoughts on our upcoming snow. A couple of things to keep in mind... since this afternoon, the models have trended southward with the track of the storm. This now seems to place areas south of I-70 under a greater threat for heavier snow. But this does not necessarily decrease the amount of snow expected along/north of I-70. Why? Because with a farther south track, temperatures will be a bit colder which may lead to a higher liquid to snow ratio...(basically meaning fluffier snowflakes). In this video, you will see me show the WRF model which shows much less snow north of I-70... but then look at the last two maps I show which take into account the expected snow ratios and youll see the difference! Generally I expect 2-4 in the Columbus metro area with some areas picking up as much as 5-6. Here is what to look for later today (Monday): The National Weather Service will either issue Winter Storm Warnings or Winter Weather Advisories to replace the current Winter Storm Watch across much of the state. IF a Winter Weather Advisory is issued... then expect light to moderate snowfall which will cause travel delays... with generally 2-4 of snow. IF a Winter Storm Warning is issued... then expect more significant travel delays and problems, and heavier snowfall amounts. Mike Davis will be on the air starting at 4:25 and will have updates through noon, and Chris Bradley will then have latest forecast and track beginning at 5pm. I do not expect the heavier snow to start until after 10 or 11pm Monday night. Be safe everyone, and get ready for winters BIG return!
