For you were called to freedom, brothers; only do not use your freedom as a pretext for living according to the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole law finds its fullness in a single commandment, You shall love your neighbor as yourself (Gal 5: 13-14). Saint John Paul II, Theology of the Body 52:5 Children enter the world much like Adam did long ago--so innocent and full of love that they dont need to be told not to murder, steal, or harm others. They are truly free from the law. Unfortunately, the snake eventually slithers into their lives, seeking to tempt them where they are most vulnerable--through the weakness of the flesh. So let us lay a foundation of love for them in our homes. Let us strive to create an environment where they will desire to use their freedom for good, where the spirit is stronger than the law, and where habits of loving your neighbor as yourself can be created. Our freedom is a great gift; let us teach our children to use it wisely.
