Force tweets all calls/incidents received in 24 hours Greater Manchester Police is tweeting all the calls received for 24 hours as well as showing some of the most challenging work it is involved with. It is taking place four years to the day from the first ever GMP Twitter Day. One of the early calls this morning - for instance - was about a child refusing to go to school... You can follow the details on Twitter at #gmp24. There will also be a Facebook ‘take over’ by officers during the day on the GMP account. Officers working in complex and challenging areas including public protection, negotiators and hi-tech crime are providing video updates on the work they do. Two community reporters will also be giving insight from custody and on a response patrol. GMP Chief Constable Sir Peter Fahy said: “Since we held our first Twitter day in 2010 the force has shrunk by 1,400 officers and it has become more of a challenge to maintain the service to the public. “Four years ago, people were surprised by the range of incidents we have to deal with and these have not changed. More of our work is about protecting vulnerable people, targeting those who abuse them and dealing with the consequences of entrenched social problems. “We have a tremendous workforce that every day shows great dedication, patience and compassion. Our staff have great concern about the consequences of further reductions that we will face over coming years. We will need greater support from the public and continued changes to the way we work to get through this.” #joblikenoother manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/live-greater-manchester-police-post-7929864
