Forces conduct searches in Sopore, Handwara Sopore, July 10: (GNS) Forces in north Kashmir’s Sopore town launched a search operation following reports of presence of militants, official sources told GNS on Thursday. Official sources told GNS that army’s 22 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and police’s Special Operation Group (SOG) cordoned off Model Town locality Sopore last evening and started a search operation. “The forces continued search operation on Thursday during which they conducted house-to-house searches,” they said. However, no one was detained or arrested by forces and the cordon was lifted at around 1:00 pm, official sources said. Meanwhile, a day after killing of a Lashkar-e-Toiba militant in Hamla village of Handwara in Kupwara district, army and SOG continued searches for other militants, who reportedly gave slip to them during the gunfight, official sources said. They said additional reinforcements of forces were sent to the area including army’s 31RR Para troopers, 21 RR and 30 RR. (GNS) The Daily Kashmir Glory
