Fords 4r70w transmission is such a pain in the ass. See this folks is why you buy GM (Chevy!!) Gm had only 3 transmissions for their SUVs, Trucks, and Vans and those were the 4l60 /700R4, 4l60E, and 4l80E! Simple shit. And they last a long time. Fords design for the 4r70w and the 4r100 are just trash transmissions. The casing for the 4r100 and 4r70w always crack, the transmissions always tend to blow out, and they are horrific to service! Not to mention, they are more expensive to fix. This will be the FOURTH estimate in the past 3 weeks for a 4r70w Ford transmission to be rebuilt!!!! $1,500 and thats on the low end. One of them has a cracked case so its going to be $2200 at the least. So next one of you tell me to buy a ford truck, just remember reliability is everything and that is why I wont buy a late 80s to mid 2000s F series pick up.
