Forecast on Snow risk (Tuesday 20th & Wednesday 21st). As is common with the set up of Atlantic weather fronts bumping into colder air, exactly when, and how much snow, which is looking potentially disruptive tomorrow (Tuesday) night, is quite uncertain, although below we have a general idea on the forecast for Buxton. Another update will be posted Tomorrow morning when the team have a better idea. At the moment however, from around 10pm on Tuesday, snowfall is likely in the area, which will give 2-5cm before the system clears on Wednesday morning. For lower elevations, the Cheshire plain may see 1-2cm, with a dusting likely in Stockport/ Manchester by Wednesday morning. The time frame we are monitoring is 10pm Tuesday to 6am Wednesday. Before then, very cold overnight temperatures tonight will lead to a widespread risk of ice, with lows of -4C. A sunny start tomorrow with a few freezing fog patches (be aware of low visibility). Through the crisp winters day, cloud will push in from the West. Highs of around 1C. Temperatures falling quickly after dark, before the snow arrives into the evening. At the moment the snow looks fairly light and will last a few hours, although the potential is for a few heavier bursts around midnight and again by the early hours of Wednesday. Once again we are watching for 2-5cm, with perhaps up to 7cm on routes above 400 meters, these may be affected early on Wednesday. Another cold day on Wednesday with temperatures rising to just 0C after fresh snowfall. Icy nights and cold temperatures remaining the story on Thursday, before through Friday we may see further snowfall (updates are ahead), although at the moment another moderate or light fall is likely. The weekend will remain cold. However into next week, temperatures may rise slightly allowing something more wet rather than wintry to arrive, snow melting next week. Thank you for reading, BWW.
