Forecasts for the rest of the week and weekend have been updated in more detail. THURSDAY Many areas will be largely dry with lengthy sunny spells, however there will be more cloud across eastern areas of England and Scotland close to the North Sea with the risk of showers and/or outbreaks of rain, especially from north east England southward. Winds will be strong northerly turning north easterly, especially close to North Sea coasts where there will be the risk of gales, especially from north east England down through East Anglia. Areas further west will be breezy but winds will be lighter than those further east. It will be a cool day with temperatures ranging from single figures in the north to low double figures in the south. The strong winds will make things feel colder, especially toward eastern areas, with feel like temperatures closer to freezing. FRIDAY To be updated in full Thursday night. There will be the risk of some outbreaks of rain across some central, southern and eastern areas at times but also some drier spells. Winds here will still be quite strong but from an easterly direction so it will be feeling cool. Many northern and western areas will be largely dry with some sunny spells and lighter winds, though still quite breezy. It will be cool here too. WEEKEND To be updated in full Friday night. There will be the risk of some showers and spells of rain across central, southern and some northern areas at times on Saturday but also some drier and brighter spells. Northern and western areas will see the driest and brightest conditions. Sunday will bring the risk of more widespread outbreaks of rain and showers at times but with some drier and brighter spells, however some far northern and far western areas will remain largely dry with the brightest conditions. Winds over the weekend will still be from an easterly direction but they will ease somewhat. Conditions will still be cool, though temperatures will increase a little on preceding days as we cut off the cold northerly feed.
