Foreign employment agencies to protest against foreign-bound Nepali workers being turned away from TIA : ******************************* The Nepal Association of Foreign Employment Agencies (NAFEA) has announced a series of protest programs against injustice meted out on foreign-bound Nepali workers on the grounds that some of the details in their visa documents, which were in Arabic, had not been translated into English and hence their papers were not complete. A meeting of the Association held in the capital on Wednesday decided to finish necessary preparation for the protest till Monday and wage a strong protest from Tuesday next week against Nepali overseas workers being prevented from flying from Tribhuvan International Airport by immigration officials on various grounds. NAFEA Chairperson Bal Bahadur Tamang has said that as part of their protest program they plan to picket Department of Immigration and Foreign Employment (DoIF) and even shut down the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) if need be to protest against the gross injustice Nepali overseas workers are facing. Tamang said that the officials of DoIF are turning away Nepali workers without any valid reasons because they are enraged by Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA)’s arrest of 23 immigration department employees, including the translators from the Arabic language. Earlier this week, nearly 400 workers were prevented from flying TIA, supposedly in protest against CIAA’s arrest. Meanwhile, CIAA has said its serious attention has been drawn to officials of DoIF at the Tribhuvan International Airport turning away Nepali overseas workers as well as other Nepali citizens heading abroad under various pretext, warning that DoIF will be held entirely responsible if CIAA receives complaints that it has turned away service seekers and have created all sorts of hassles for them with malicious intent.
