Forest Rangers, Adirondack Rugged and Ready. This past - TopicsExpress

Forest Rangers, Adirondack Rugged and Ready. This past Saturday after dealing with my trusty Saturn episode, just short of the orange ball deal (Pulp Fiction), lost keys, funky starter and the like, I walked back to the Information Center at the Loj. Two young staffers were working the busy counter and eventually I got my turn in line. These two energetic Adirondackers cheerfully helped me and without pause. Now understand I was a supreme pain in the rear end (explicative please). Then a young intern, Emily, comes to the rescue and makes the extra effort to help me getting the situation under control. The whole crew at the Loj was remarkable, especially since I am the Publisher some just love to hate. As the saga continues, I meet a woman and her husband on the terrace at the Information Center. They just had taken on Marcy trail to summit. By this time the sun was setting, I still had car issues, but eating little chocolates from my pack seemed to help. As such I got chatting with these two fit hikers and apparently there were some folks on the mountain now hiking in the forthcoming darkness of the wildness, and purportedly without headlamps. NOT GOOD! What to do, Call the Forest Ranger to the rescue! Forest Rangers are on call 24/7 Adirondack Rugged and Ready. The Ranger of Record, I believe his name was Pat, showed up at the Information Center like Chuck Yaeger from the movie The Right Stuff. This cat was a prime pilot and this was Ponchos where the top gun hikers get all the hot play. Donning his backpack, headlamps and secret agent Ranger gear, this Rugged and Ready Forest Ranger just bolted to the Trailhead. No Bull … it was go time … Rugged and Ready Go Time! Within two hours Adirondack Rugged and Ready pushes the nocturnal envelope and hauls it back in, this time with the party in need safe in his guard. Their swift return back to Panchos (the Loj Information Center) is a testament to the dedication of our Forest Rangers. What we do without them. You tell me! Kudos Adirondack Rugged and Ready .... Forest Rangers. Next time you see a Ranger buy them a cup of coffee and send the bill to me. Then I will know you read the post! Brock Garrison for Adirondack Trail Magazine
