Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM) Founded in 1929 on a 486-hectare site in Kepong is Malaysia’s own forest science park. Although dedicated to research and sustainability management initially, FRIM also welcomes nature lovers, eco-travellers and the general public who enjoys cooling walks surrounded by this forest reserve. Among its many attractions are the MNS-Shell-FRIM’s Nature Education Centre (NEC), which educates participants to be eco-conscious global citizens; the 20-minute canopy walk (a series of suspended bridges at the canopy level) which offers spectacular views of the city and scenic, exciting jungle treks amidst waterfalls and the lush tropical jungle. With many outdoor recreations and public education on the ground, FRIM has become a popular spot for picnickers, joggers, cycler, travellers and nature study groups. On the other hand, it is chosen as the venue for family day events, treasure hunts, camping, bird watching, jungle trekking, wedding reception and nature photography.
