Forever A "Skeptic" Some people really believe that I am a skeptic, others swear according to their negative perceptions that I am a feminist. Great News though is that, those who call me a skeptic or feminist, have a name that starts with the first letter of the word Feminist and ends with the last letter of the word Skeptic. They constitute a dangerous and almost fatal combination. They are Fanatics (plural of fanatic). Yes, I am a skeptic and feminist because of their fanatical views which will not let them see beyond their extreme beliefs. Here is a definition of a skeptic... from the free dictionary: 1. a person who questions the validity, authenticity, or truth of something purporting to be factual, esp. religion or religious tenets. 2. a person who maintains a doubting attitude, as toward values, plans, or the character of others. Now, you will have to marry that attitude with the definition of a fanatic from dictionary 1. a person with an extreme and uncritical enthusiasm or zeal, as in religion or politics. And I agree to being a feminist because of the following definition of a feminist because that is the category I fall in, this is from an article written by Thomas Gramstad, quoting Soc. Feminism. 1. The belief that women and men are, and have been, treated differently by our society, and that women have frequently and systematically been unable to participate fully in all social arenas and institutions. 2. A desire to change that situation. 3. That this gives a "new" point-of-view on society, when eliminating old assumptions about why things are the way they are, and looking at it from the perspective that women are not inferior and men are not "the norm." Simply put, those who are fanatical about religion, politics and feminism, will no doubtless call me a skeptic and a feminist. I gladly take that title for the noble causes I stand for. Extreme Christian views are not godly, they diminish the humanity of other human beings and refuse to see things differently. I want to be a balanced human being even if that is the hardest thing. Some said, standing in the middle of the road is dangerous, you get hit from both sides. However, the Bible talks about a gap where no man was found to stand in. I belong to that gap because popularity is not my quest, justice is.
