Forever Free By Chloe Emerson One day, very soon now, the chains that bind this poor, useless body will be broken, cast aside forever, and I, I will be free. Freedom will come with a price, it always does… the cost will be leaving this plane, and exiting this shell, leaving behind those who dared to love me. I will miss those people. Once free of the bondage, I will soar high above the trees, seeing and experiencing and enjoying the things denied me on this plane. Things that I longed for, places that called to me in the night until the pain of not going was so severe, I cast off these earthly bonds, and I flew away. Stronger than I’d ever been, I cascaded down a mountain to the sea, swept back to shore by the tides and rose from the surf ready to run along across the sands and the rocks, breathing deeply of the scents of ocean, earth, sky. I cannot be bound now. Not to an earthly body. For I’ve found my way home at last, to the place where life truly is, the place where there is no bondage, no pain, no sorrow, no crying. I am free. Forever free. I would have that you could have come along with me, that we could enjoy the beauty together, but it wasn’t your time. You are still bound to your chains, and while they serve you, they were agony to me. So don’t be sad that I’m gone. I’m not truly gone. But I am free. If you look for me on the winds, I will be there. If you look for me in the woods I loved, I will be there. If you look for me in the river I longed for, you will find me, and when you find me, you will hear my laughter. Then, you will know how truly free I am. Forever, I will be free.
