Forever Question So, philosophical, ethical question for Mamie. If you continue on as you are, you will probably be one of the first people (verifiable) with a stabilized Perpetual Lifestyle. Knowing that you are going to lose people no matter how long you live, would you be willing to actually live perpetually. Have a life style where the body gets more than enough exercise to rebuild itself and keep itself in repair and full health. AT some point, someone is going to be doing this regardless of who it is, and they in turn will only be the first of all who do it. So I wanted to put it to you, if you were the only person of your birth bracket (not age bracket because with perpetual living that becomes obsolete.) would you be willing to accept the rest of us younger folk, for better or worse, as viable companionship (with periodic new material) for the entire duration of forever? (or until accidental or homicidal death over takes us.) Answer The question was asked of me on a PM and I am reprinting it here without the writers name. My first reaction to it was, Why not? Its what Ive been doing for a long time anyway. But the more I thought about it I reconsidered. Immortality means that you live on while people you love die. Ive been going through a good bit of grief the past couple of years, and, especially this week. So, no, people you love are not replaceable and losing loved ones for eternity is just too damn hard. No, when my time comes to step up to the cashiers window, Ill buy the ticket. Who knows what adventures await in the next incarnation? mamie
