Forget Form – £17m Benzema is a great signing for Arsenal It seems that a lot of Arsenal fans would not be too happy if Arsene Wenger was to sign the Real Madrid and France striker Karim Benzema in January. I understand that his performances are not exactly great at the minute, but that could actually be good for Arsenal. There is no way that Madrid would even contemplate selling the striker if he was in form, but according to The Mirror, they are willing to let him go for a measly £17 million. Snap their hands off I say, snap both of them off. This is the same striker who battled it out for three years for number one position with Gonzalo Higuain, the man we were all dying to sign this summer. Whether Madrid made a mistake and sold the wrong striker is arguable, although it seems so at the minute. The thing is, form is temporary and class is permanent. Benzema is class, and I am sure that Arsene Wenger could soon have him firing again, especially when you consider the chances that Ozil, Cazorla, Wilshere, Walcott and all would be able to provide him with. Maybe he doesn’t get on with Ancelotti, who knows? At Arsenal, he would have a French manager, international team mates Sagna, Koscielny, Flamini and Giroud and be reunited with the king of assists Ozil, who he knows pretty well. He would have to battle with Giroud for the central striker role, but so what? What was Higuain going to do? We are happy to have competition for places everywhere else, so why not there. Besides, he is a different type of striker than Giroud, more about speed and running in behind. And we are one Giroud injury away from a crisis. So forget form Arsenal fans. You do not play for Real Madrid for four years by being rubbish, average or even good. You have to be top class, and that is what we want at the Emirates isn’t it? Let’s make Madrid our new feeder club. lol. #MartinOZIL
