Forgive me if I have told this Election Night story before but I love it. On Election Night the suit-type newspaper editors felt they must do something important, so they had to call the grunts together in the afternoon to have them report what their jobs were on election night. Totally unnecessary since most of us had much more election coverage experience than they did, if they had any experience at all. One of those editors called us all together about 2 p.m.on election day and had us recite what we were going to do that night. It was Tom Millers turn to report what he was going to do. He had about 118 years experience covering elections. Well, he said, I plan on going down to the courthouse after the polls close. I am going to find out who won and who lost. Then I will come back to the office and write a story about it. Dead silence from the suit. Next?
