Forgiveness is for You (Ephesians 1:1-14) One of the hardest - TopicsExpress

Forgiveness is for You (Ephesians 1:1-14) One of the hardest things to do is forgive. Too often we seek retribution for wrongs committed against us or our loved ones. This is natural. Which is the problem: THIS IS NATURAL. The Spirit of God which dwells within every believer empowers you to walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Your carnal, natural flesh would like nothing more than for individuals to get what they deserve for hurting you. As God demonstrated according to His Word, before we had a thought to take a step towards redemption, He already had a heart to forgive us. Forgiveness of others is more for you than for the individual. It allows the release of bitterness, anger and hurt which can be a weight and hindrance to your spiritual, mental and even physical health. Your willingness to forgive others leaves a door open for that person to seek forgiveness and reposition themselves to add to your life as God originally intended. More than that, it allows God to fill your heart with love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance which guarantee a life of quality and substance pleasing to Him. Before we even had a thought to seek it, God had already prepared our gift of forgiveness by His grace. He was just waiting for us to ask for it. Should we not do the same for our fellow man? Prayer - Today, allow me to follow the footsteps of my Heavenly Father and forgive unconditionally. Help me to realize that forgiving others is more of a reflection of my relationship with God and my desire to walk in His image and likeness according to the character of Christ than the subject of my forgiveness. Today, I want to forgive without ransom. For this is pleasing unto Him. In Jesus Name - Amen.
