Form a orderly queue here..... Hagrid is now available for adoption. He is a 4 year old (according to the vet) rough coated lurcher who stands at 31 inches to the shoulder. He came to us from a pound and has been in assessment for a few weeks now and is proving to be a lovely gentle giant. Hagrid is a very friendly, happy dog who is eager to please. He responds well to vocal praise, food treats and general reward. His heel work needs time and effort spending and he is strong when he wants to greet another dog, but he is showing real improvement already. He can be a bit woofy on the lead but that is definitely workable and showing improvement. Hagrid is great with other dogs. Can be very boisterous in his play but will back off when the other dog tells him to. He is WONDERFUL with his foster carers children, happy to seek them out for a cuddle and pleased to be stroked and played with endlessly. He is big and bouncy outside which could be intimidating for small children or those who are nervous of dogs. Hagrid has shown interest in the cat, but has not gone to chase so is cat workable. He has also ignored the resident chickens so far. We havent seen any hint of a prey drive either (although that could change). From his foster Mum After a sad start as a stray Hagrid is emerging as a big, friendly giant. He is very deerhoundy in type with the longest stride Ive ever seen. He is bouncy and fun and has a real love for life. He has a characterful face which is very expressive. He is interested in the world and likes to travel in the car to new places. Hagrid will make someone a loyal and faithful companion. He would be happy to live alone or with other dogs, with a single person or in a busy family. He needs a good gallop every day, and to play with other dogs when possible. I think he is delightful and deserves a sofa of his own to stretch out on, who ever he ends up living with will be very lucky to know him. Hagrid is in foster in Wiltshire.
