Formal charges have been filed against the Vanderburgh Country nursing home worker who was arrested Friday after video of her treatment of an 87-year-old Alzheimer’s patient was reported to authorities last week. Evansville resident Denita Jo Bass, 40, was preliminary charged with battery by a caregiver, a class D felony at the time of her arrest. She was fired from her job at West River Health Campus when the video of the incident was shown to nursing home officials. Vanderburgh County Deputy Prosecutor James Doyle called the case against Bass “egregious.”
