The global models don’t seem very convincing, but with that ridge of high pressure to the south of the Galapagos, it could be the driving force behind a little extra southerly windswell mid-next week. A weak area of low pressure, accompanied by disorganized showers and thunderstorms, is located several hundred miles south-southeast of the Gulf of Tehuantepec. Environmental conditions are expected to be conducive for gradual development of this system during the next several days while it moves westward or west-northwestward. ** Formation chance through 5 days...medium...40 percent.
