Former Barcelona and Real Madrid player Luis Figo say he will be back in Bulawayo soon and pledged to help Highlanders FC ,the Esigodini community as well as organise a high profile charity match. Figo was in the city of Bulawayo last week on a brief visit and was understood to be exploring mining business opportunities. Figo came in the company of a South African businessman ,motivational speaker and author Gayton McKenzie, McKenzie linked Figo to Bulawayo based Reverend Lot Mpofu of the United Congregational Church of Southern Africa (UCCSA) Mpofu hosted Figo while in Bulawayo and said the former star had asked about areas where he could assist financially. The former star spent most of his time on Thursday at Happy Valley Mine in Esigodini which is owned by Reverend Lot Mpofu Mpofu. "He asked what areas would need assistance and we indicated Tennyson Hlabangana Secondary School and the two primary schools in the area. We also mentioned Highlanders Football Club and the elderly in the community who need food assistance," the businessman and part-time pastor said. Figo and his handlers also said they would explore the possibility of organising a high profile charity match that will feature players like Zinedine Zidane, Raul and Andy Cole, among others. McKenzie says he will be back in the country in the next few weeks to discuss the possibility of such a match with ZIFA.
