Former Barcelona assistant coach Henk Ten Cate claims a promise to the late Tito Vilanova is the only thing keeping Lionel Messi at the club. Ten Cate believes it would be best for both player and club if the Argentina international left now that he can pull in a massive transfer fee. Speculation is rife that Messi is unsettled and considering his future, with the likes of PSG and Chelsea waiting in the wings to snap up one of the worlds best ever players in his prime. As far as I know, these problems all started about two years ago. Messi is only still at Barcelona because he promised it to Tito Vilanova at his deathbed, Ten Cate told De Telegraaf. But I think a transfer would be in everybodys best interest. Lionel has been at Barcelona for quite a while and he needs a new challenge. Hes still worth a lot of money now, but his value will only go down from here on. I really want to be supportive, because he has been on another level for 10 years. But Im not sure he will get back to his bes #KBY D...
