Former Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack believes the future is bright for Jose Mourinho’s side despite Chelsea’s 3-1 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League semi final. Twice a losing finalist in Europe’s premier club competition, with Bayer Leverkusen and Chelsea, the ex-Germany international captain refused to be too downbeat on the Blues’ project, claiming the talented crop of attackers at Stamford Bridge can be molded, in time, to become an all-conquering outfit. The former Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen star told Sky Sports: “They have the talent, the players like Oscar, Willian or even Schurrle. “But they need to grow as well – it’s the first time they are in a semi-final with this kind of players and they need to adapt to this level as well. It’s not from today or tomorrow, it needs time a little bit. Of course, they will sign maybe one or two more players, but I think this team has quality. “[They need time] to put it in a certain way because players like Oscar, Hazard and Willian they are unbelievable talents.”]
