Read: Man Utd Offered Ronaldo To Barca Spanish media report Laporta and Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, had lunch when the Barcelona representative made his move for the Real Madrid star. However, Mendes is understood to have replied that it would be impossible for Barcelona to trigger the clause. Mendes is representing Chelsea boss, Jose Mourinho, as well and other media claim that Laporta is also keen to bring the Portuguese back to the club. Mourinho worked for the Catalan giants in the early stages of his career, first as translator for Sir Bobby Robson and later as assistant for Louis van Gaal. Both of Laportas attempts for big name signings are understood as campaigning for his presidency. Barcelona’s next elections are only scheduled for 2016 but Laporta claims current president Josep Maria Bartomeu has never officially legitimized his presidency.
