Former FC Barcelona star Ronaldinho added another title to his impressive resumé, following the victory over Paraguayan side Club Olimpia (4-3 on penalties) in the Copa Libertadores yesterday. With this title, Ronaldinho became the fourth player in history to achieve the treble of titles consisting of the Brazilian league title, the Champions League and the Copa Libertadores, matching the accomplishments of Cafu, Dida and Róque Junior. However, Ronaldinho is the only one of these players to win the Ballon D’Or (2005, FC Barcelona). After the match he had some words for the press: “This was the missing title. I came back to Brazil for this prize. Everyone thought I was finished, I wonder what they are thinking now. It is a great joy. God has given me this. This is for my mother, she deserves this,” referring to his mother overcoming cancer. He also spoke kind words about current Barça star Lionel Messi, whom he mentored when the Argentine broke through to first team football: “Who the best player in the world is right now? Messi, forever Messi. He knows of all the admiration and love that I have for him.”
