Former Harlingen South HS golfer gets invited To 114th U.S.G.A. AMATEUR GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS Roman Robledo will tee off on Monday at the Atlantic Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia. The Harlingen South HS graduate, will try to make history by becoming the first Hispanic to win this prestigious event. The legendary Bobby Jones won this event and went on to design this golf course. Robeldo will tee off at 9:15 a.m. with groupings and starting times for the first two rounds of the 2014 U.S. Amateur Championship, Monday (Aug. 11) and Tuesday (Aug. 12), at the Atlanta Athletic Club’s 7,409/7,428-yard, par 35-36-71 Highlands and 7,381-yard, par 36-36-72 Riverside Courses. A field of 312 players will play 18 holes of stroke play on Aug. 11 and 12, after which the field will be cut to the low 64 scorers. Six rounds of match play begin on Aug. 13 and the championship concludes with a scheduled 36-hole championship match on Aug. 17 Robledo, a senior at the University of Houston, enters the tournament after earning an invitation by winning five NCAA Golf tournaments in 2013-14 and he is ranked in the Top 15 nationally. usga.org/ChampEventArticle2.aspx?id=21474871307
