Former Mayor arrested Hyderabad, June 29: Hyderabad Former mayor Banda Kartika Reddy was arrested on Saturday in connection with a Temple land dispute in Secunderabad. Authorities of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation tried to take some land belonging to the Lalapet Pochamma temple to construct a compound wall with the adjoining property. This resulted in a heated argument between the locals and the authorities. Kartika Reddy who came to the spot, opposed the decision of the GHMC authorities to reduce the land allotted to the temple. When the situation turned tense, GHMC authorities called the police. They arrested 200 locals including the former mayor and shifted them to the Bollaram police station. There has been a long dispute on the Pochamma temple land. The dispute even went to the court.
