Former boxer Vitaly Klitschko, one of three opposition leaders who met Mr Yanukovych, came back on Thursday evening saying the president had made no real concessions. Hours of conversation were spent about nothing, he said. People on the Maidan later voted to stop any talks with the president, and the decision was taken to expand the main protest camp. i suspect it was a tactic to delay… and perhaps identify all the opposition. Thus is not a good sign. I felt if he made real concessions then it was clear he does not have the power card in his back pocket. Now I am not so sure. There is a fine line between people with sticks and shields and slogans overrunning select police (mostly by numbers) and an army from the north invading to help stabilize the situation I am very worried. The protesters continue to widen their reach. People who work normally in the government buildings that are occupied are not getting paid. A big occupation spread out is hard to maintain in winter conditions when you have no reserves… There is a lot oh historical precedent about this. The currency has lost 5% of its value - though i am not so sure this represents any market rate. the temperature was - 16 C yesterday. that is very cold.
