Former police officer from #Italy is fighting in #Novorossiya. Luigi is an Italian, native of Ostia. A former police officer who after being dismissed worked as a truck driver started to sympathize with Novorossiya from the very beginning of the war. Being a true European, Luigi is committed to a conservative position and thinks that the EU as a political and an economical unit does more harm than good to Europe. An Italian volunteer thinks that Europe must remain a union of nations where each nation has a right for self-determination and political independence. When Luigi saw the first reportages of European mass media, he decided, whatever the cost, to help the young republic to get an independence. After studying thoroughly the history of Ukraine and Donbass, a brave Italian concluded that Ukraine has no any historically determined rights for the territory of Novorossiya and is by itself a purely artificial territorial unit. The claims of Ukraine for national originality and the opposing the Ukrainian culture to the Russian culture has no grounds, according to him. Our Italian guest is ready, with arms in his hands, to protect the decision of a legal people’s referendum and sincerely believes that Novorossiya without doubt will be a part of Russia as an autonomous republic or Luganskaya and Donetskaya regions. Having English speaking skills Luigi would like to join a special security unit, which escorts and secures European journalists working in the combat operational zone. Luigi is unsatisfied with a biased, to his mind, position of the most of his compatriots towards this war. Especially sad, he thinks, that the Italians know surprisingly little about what is going on in Donbass, about the shelling of civilians, looting and other atrocities committed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard and the territorial battalions. The volunteer sincerely desires peace but he is sure that a peaceful life may come only when Ukraine recognizes the independence of Donbass. However, he thinks that Rada can hardly make such plunge because it is illegal by itself, and the oligarchs, which came to power after Maidan, will never abandon their claims to the most industrially developed region. Besides defending the future of the DPR, the Italian volunteer regards it to be his duty to bring a true information to his fellow countrymen via his blog and podcast, which he is going start in the nearest future. With the help of the volunteers who speak English, Luigi began to study Russian and he makes a good progress. Being a very polite and delicate person, he is very popular with his neighbors in the hostel and with many soldiers and officers of the Armed Forces of Novorossiya.
