In Harare, Zimbabwe champions, Dynamos outclassed Mochudi Centre Chiefs of Botswana 3-0 thanks to a brace from Washington Pakamisa and the other from Masimba Mambare. Goals from Dawit Fekadu, Shimekit Gugsa and Michael George handed Ethiopian champions, Dedebit a 3-0 win over KMKM of Zanzibar in Addis Ababa. Elsewhere in Douala, Les Astres thumped Akonangui of Equatorial Guinea 3-0 to secure a huge advantage ahead of the return leg next weekend. Earlier on Friday, Zimbabwe-import Edward Sadomba netted a brace and a goal each from Abdelrahman Fetori and Moataz Al Mehdi ensured a 4-0 win for Ahli Benghazi of Libya against Foullah Edificer of Chad in Tunis. The return matches will be held on the weekend of 14-16 February with the winners advancing to the next round.
