The Army must reduce and reorganize its force structure to achieve the fiscal reductions required by the Budget Control Act of 2011, while staying postured to best meet the nations defense needs. This also will involve a reduction of at least 40,000 active duty Soldiers for a total end strength of 450,000 active duty Soldiers. If sequestration-level cuts are imposed in fiscal year 2016 and beyond, all components of the Army would be further reduced, with an active duty end strength dropping to 420,000. Fort Knoxs CLS will be one of 30 Army installation CLSs that will take place through March 2015. The comments made at each CLS will be provided to Army leadership for their review and consideration before any force structure decisions are made.
