Fort Knox Emergency Services and Emergency Management personnel - TopicsExpress

Fort Knox Emergency Services and Emergency Management personnel remind all personnel and their Families to prepare for the possibility of tornadoes and other emergencies. All personnel should continue to maintain a basic level of awareness and preparedness for all potential hazards. Tune to local television or radio for up to date weather information - smart phone/tablet apps are also a good source. We encourage every family to have an NOAA Radio in their home. Tornadoes strike quickly, with little or no warning, and everyone should be prepared. Tornadoes are the most violent natural hazard, with the most damaging aspect being their destructive wind speeds that can reach as high as 300 mph. Most tornadoes occur between March and August, but they can occur at any time of year, as we witnessed just this week. We encourage our Fort Knox Community - Soldiers, their Families, Civilians and contractors - to Get a kit. Make a plan. Be informed. You can find additional guidance fact sheets for you and your family at the Ready Army website: acsim.army.mil/readyarmy/ra_readiness.htm In an emergency, use a combination of the sources below to get local information concerning Fort Knox Status (road conditions, delays, closures, etc.). PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE IOC. We are usually very busy making additional notifications or answering questions for and from the leadership and key staff. We keep them all updated as quickly as possible. Information Sources: Your Commander/Supervisor/Facility Manager - they have the final say on your requirements.
