Fort Lauderdale is back-pedaling in the face of resistance, but many more cities are declaring war on the homeless. Shawnee, OK is considered the Worst City in the Country to be Homeless. Floridas homeless population grows during the winter, as people try to escape the frigid temperatures much of the country is subject to. We must challenge those who believe homeless people should be unseen and unheard. Providing even simple, basic supplies is a step toward making a difference and toward showing everyone that we refuse to ignore humans in need. Keep a few emergency kits in your car-- Socks, baby wipes, a couple of non-perishable food items, basic hygeine supplies, a small first aid kit, a sewing kit. Have things on hand so no matter where you encounter someone in need, you can have something to offer.
