Fort Pierce Police Department Makes Arrest in Suspicious Incident at the Federal Court House Last Tuesday Yesterday afternoon, Fort Pierce Police Detective Samuel Cooper arrested Tyler Long, 20, of Fort Pierce for his involvement in the incident which closed the Federal Court House and activated Saint Lucie Sheriff’s Bomb Disposal. Long is currently located at the Saint Lucie County Jail and is being held on $25,000.00 bond. On Tuesday, January 6, 2015, Fort Pierce Officers and Detectives responded with the Saint Lucie Sheriff’s Department Bomb Disposal to the Alto Lee Adams Sr. United States Courthouse for a suspicious item. Federal Protective Service Inspectors from the courthouse reported a young male ran up the steps to the front doors and jumped onto the platform of the flag pole. The young male placed an object at the base of the flag pole, manipulated it a few moments and then ran off. The young male rejoined a second male before leaving the area. The St Lucie Sheriff’s Bomb Disposal determined the item, a baby doll, as safe. A witness in the area spotted the two males as they watched law enforcement’s response from the top of the Citrus Avenue overpass. The males’ behavior concerned the witness, who took pictures of the two males and provided them to investigators. The pictures allowed detectives to identify the two males in the video from the courthouse as Tyler Long and his 13 year old brother. When interviewed, Long told detectives he told his brother to put the doll at the flag pole because they wanted to scare people. Long was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct.
