Forty-five years ago today, Apollo 11 crew member Neil Armstrong stepped onto the surface of the #moon, and into history. And, did you know NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration finds its roots at #LangleyAFB? In 1917, the U.S. established the first civilian laboratory of the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA), NASAs predecessor, on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay at Langley Field, a year after the U.S. Army opened the installation as the militarys first base dedicated solely to American #airpower, research and development.
