Forty years ago, I gave birth to the biggest, but prettiest baby boy in the whole hospital. (The nurses told me so.) He seemed older than a newborn, but then he was 3 weeks overdue. Cautious as a toddler. Shy, self-conscious as a boy. Always sweet and taking things apart to see how they worked. He sucked his two middle fingers and he would tear apart his toys to get to the part that made it tick and then carry it around like a blankie sucking his fingers. Being a new mother, I listened to wiser moms who told me to dab a little hot sauce on his fingers and he would stop sucking them. Not my son! He developed a craving for hot sauce that he still had to this day! Lol. He would suck his fingers and hold them up for more hot sauce. *sigh* A wiser me let him suck until he quit on his own. I made a LOT of mistakes with him, but I always loved him. Thankfully, he still loves me and I cannot believe the man he has become. I am Soooo proud of him. Words cant describe. Happy Birthday to my firstborn, Bobby Joe. Four oh today. Love you to the moon and back.
