Forty years ago today Dawn and I had our first date at a St. Anthonys HS dance. (Michael Shalhoub might recall asking us if we were heading to the bluff after the dance that night.) For reasons that continue to escape me, Dawn continued to say yes to me as time progressed. And here we are, 40 years later. Though many question her sanity, including yours truly, Dawn has stood next to me, shoulder to shoulder, facing whatever life has thrown our way. I could not have scripted a life any better than what Ive had thus far, and its all because of that first yes to a date forty years ago. Everything positive in my life is directly attributable to my best friend, my love, and my partner in crime. In a few weeks, our oldest daughter will be saying yes and beginning her new life with the man she loves. I can only hope she finds half the love and joy that Ive experienced, all due to that first yes. Thank you, Dawn, for everything. I love you.
