Foss Harbor Residents, please take a few moments to review these helpful tips from Tacoma Police Dept. on how to best prevent vehicle break-ins. Did you know that in 2013, there were over 2400 vehicle break-ins and almost 1200 vehicle thefts reported in Pierce County? These crimes only take a few moments, especially if the car is left unlocked or with windows open. Thieves often drive through or scope out lots looking for unlocked cars and then search for valuables in plain sight, especially electronics such as I-pods, smartphones, computers and cameras. The best method of prevention is to NEVER leave such items in your car, unless locked in the truck. Remember, if you see anything suspicious, call the marina office at 253-272-4404 during business hours or 253-227-4525 after hours. To report an in-progress crime, call 911; or call the non-emergency number at 253-798-4722 if you discover a crime after it has occurred. Were working closely with the Tacoma PD and multiple non-profit crime prevention organizations to help keep you and your boat as safe as possible, but we cant do it without the help and watchful eyes of our residents. Thanks for working with us to keep your marina safe! - FHM
