Foster Martha has spent 2 days at the vet getting IV fluids, - TopicsExpress

Foster Martha has spent 2 days at the vet getting IV fluids, antibiotic shots and some tests. Her 2nd blood test showed her pahcreas was back to normal and all her other values were normal except her white count was even HIGHER...now it is 30,000!!! After some other tests the vet saw her liver is enlarged and mottled looking. Remember when she came in she was VERY sick and liver, pancreas and gall bladder very inflamed with a high fever that lasted a month. So given all of that and that she is still feeling bad, the vet is guessing that whatever was wrong with her before is coming back. Like maybe chronic Hepatitis or something. Inflammation can cause white cells to go up too. So she is home again for the evening with Sub-Q fluids for the road, 2 antibiotics, anti nausea med and now prednisone. Hopefully the pred will turn this around. After 2 days of fluids and the extra antibiotics, she is feeling a tad better. She wagged her tail some. In the meantime (possibly because of the dehydration that was coming on) she has been having what appeared to be an eye infection for the week too but once she got lots of fluids and some eye ointment with antibiotics and s steroid in it, he eyes look much better to. This is all very perplexing....and so was her original illness when she came to us. So please pray that the Pred she is taking perks her back up and stops whatever this is.
