Fosters At The East Of England Landlord Association Conference 2014 Fosters were delighted to continue for a fifth year their sponsorship of and support to the East of England Landlord Association at their AGM held on the 2 May 2014. Fosters were present thoughout the conference to talk informally to members, and Adrian Newborough, partner and head of our Litigation and Dispute Resolution spoke to packed conference hall to offer guidance on avoiding pitfalls which landlords may face in respect of the health of their tenants under the Defective Premises Act 1972 and the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985; the potential for prosecution by tenants under the Environmental Protection Act 1990; and prosecution by Local Authorities for hazards to health assessed under the Housing Health & Safety Rating System introduced under the Housing Act 2004. Adrian also spoke about the importance of everyone making a Will, to keep their Wills updated once made, and delegates were encouraged to plan their affairs more appropriately than either William Shakespeare or Peter Sellers.
