Found Story shared by Mikey Starsky:- My little snuggle bum Leo (Male/Tabby cat/10months old) went missing on the 4th march. He is an indoor cat so the moment i let him our Tuesday night and he didnt come back in 30minutes later, i had a little feeling he might be missing. He always sits in the tree beside the back garden door and when i open the door, he always runs in to say hello. Wednesday morning, there was no sign of him, he wasnt indoors and he wasnt outside. When i got back from work around 8pm, my mum told me Leo hasnt turned up which confirmed what i feared when he didnt come in after i let him out on tuesday night. The next few days i spent a few hours day and night looking for him. I am a light sleeper, i only sleep a few hours so i was more than happy to look for him around the block in the chance he might be around. Friday 7th, it has been 4 odd days since i last saw him, i decided to post around 100 missing posters around my street and all, i then went to my local vets in the chance he might have been handed in. By chance, a tabby cat, male was handed in Wednesday lunch time 30-40 minutes away from where i live. The RSPCA took him as the tabby cat wasnt microchipped, just like mine and he also wasnt really responding very well. A few hours later, i got a call from the Vets saying the RSPCA sadly put the cat back where he was originally found on thursday the 6th. Reason being is because they know the cat belongs to someone as he is very well fed. The woman who found him reported the cat to the RSPCA/Vets about it so i was able to contact the woman who found him. By luck, i was able to give the woman a good description of Leos details to her and nearly everything was identical. Sadly, the woman let him out, but neither i or she was sure if the cat was mine. Friday night after work, i popped over and together we decided to look for the tabby cat, but before we did this, i showed her a picture of Leo, my tabby cat and she 100% confirmed it was him. I was over the moon to know my Leo was found, but still missing as he was let go by the women who was looking after him. Both the RSPCA and the women thought the cat was local, not 30-40 minutes away. We spent around 3-4 hours looking for him, but without any success. She told me it might be best to come back around 12 or 1 in the morning as he might come out when its cooler and quiet. I returned a few hours later (nearly 12) and again, to spend a few hours looking for him. I places missing posters in the area again in the hopes someone will find him, i even placed a reward to those who find and bring him back safely. It had gone 1.30 saturday morning, i went down this dark alley which hit a dead end, but there was another path which led to a back garden. I flashed my light down there and i saw two sets of eyes, both cats ran away when they saw me, but i believed i saw a tabby cat. I called out Leos name, jiggled his little toy ball and the tabby cat slowly walked up towards me from the owners back garden. This was the first cat to do this and i started to feel this tabby cat might be Leo. 30 seconds later, i moved the light away from his eyes and guess what, it was Leo , i found him. The moment the light was out of his eyes, he ran towards me, jumped up and placed his two front paws on my leg as i was kneeling down. It brought a tear to my eye because i feared he might have been taken away or worse, killed. The women and vets gave me hope knowing he might be around, but to find him myself in someones back garden, for him to run to me with a smile like he was really happy to see me was such a wonderful moment. I kept him in my room all week as i was starting my 9 day holiday from work on saturday 7th march. It was such a lovely way to start my holiday, to find him after thinking i wont see him again. I got him microchipped the next day, i even brought him to see the lady who originally found him as she asked me if i could let her know if i find him. She didnt take the reward. I went to my local pet shop in Elm Park, there was a charity thing going on for a young girl who had heart problems of some sort, so i decided to give £70+ of the reward money to the charity run the little girl would be going for. I had already spent some of the money already. The reason my cat ran off is because he was looking for female cats. He wasnt microchipped at all and i found him 30-40 minutes away from where i live. My best bet is that if you have time, do what you can to find him, post posters, check the vets, give a really good detailed desciption of your animal, offer a reward, dont say how much, i didnt, i was going to offer £100, after all, i dont earn very much on the minimum wage, but i love my Leo, so i was willing to spend time looking for him and give someone a reward. Whatever you do, dont give up, think of the things your animal likes, Leo loves his little toy ball which jingles, Leo wasnt 100% used to his name. So please, if you lose your animal, dont give up and do whatever you feel is best and right for you to find him, because thats how i found Leo . I may have wasted £200+ just to find and deal with him, but in the end, it was worth it
