Found out more family tree information... My great, great,great,great grandpa CUFFEE MAYHO (or Cuffy, Cuffey,or Mayo) was brought over by a British Family, (which would explain why that particular line of my family was free) BUT READ THIS ***Delegate Cuffie Mayo was born in 1803 as a free Black man in Virginia. During his life he was a Blacksmith and painter. His first name has been spelled Cuffey, Cuffy, or Cuffee (North Carolina State Archives). *** My Great great great great grandpa was a Blacksmith, a Pastor, a Painter, and a Delegate... and overall he was a highly respected man, by his peers and community. (theres a newspaper article, printed in the 1800s that speaks of him) #proud
