Founders Message: Support BCIN at Strut Your Mutt (9/6/14) I am very excited to be participating once again in the 2014 Strut Your Mutt Fundraising Walk hosted by Best Friends Animal Society on behalf of Border Collies In Need. BCIN is proud to be a coalition partner of the Best Friends No More Homeless Pets Network and it’s No Kill LA initiative. Please support my rescue efforts by either joining our team or by donating to my fundraising page. This years event is guaranteed to be the best one ever that you wont want to miss. Event details are as follows: Saturday, 6 September 2014 Will Rogers State Historic Park, 1501 Will Rogers State Historic Park Rd., Los Angeles, CA 90272 Registration check-in opens - 3:30 p.m. Fun Run / Walk starts - 5:00 p.m. Strut Your Mutt festival - 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Live Music (Eat|See|Hear) - 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. Movie (Eat|See|Hear) - 8:30 - 10:30 p.m. I am fundraising for 2 senior dogs, Josh and BG that just recently entered our program. BCIN takes in more than a fair share of the senior BCs, as it is fact that adoption rates in the shelter are reduced significantly once a dog reaches 5 years of age. These dogs were at risk of being euthanized solely because of their age. Josh is a 5-7 year old BC that was hit by a car and his hip was displaced. Luckily, it was able to be reset without major surgery. He is still recovering from loss of hair because of road rash. You can view her shelter video at youtu.be/8GSrYv8TnHE . Take a look at her now. She is pictured below on this post with two of our volunteers after she was groomed. She was neglected and surrendered by her owner to the shelter. Her fur was completely matted with feces, urine, and rose bush thorns and branches. The cost of rescuing a dog is very expensive.
