Four Lions was not a documentary it was a comedy. When Barry connected the purchasing of Jaffa cakes with murdering Palestinians he was satirising the basic minded morons amongst us. He wasnt being serious. If someone buys Coca Cola (for example) they are not baby killers, by calling them that you are not convincing them of anything you are simply shaming them for a temporary feeling of satisfaction without influencing their habits or thinking. What buying Coca Cola can be deemed is an unethical choice, making you an unethical consumer because of the well established business relationship the company has with illegal settlements in Israel and added to that is their ongoing funding of JUF and AIA. Its a simple distinction which gives the boycott argument substance and coherence. But youre annoying the average layperson at the moment because youre clueless about what youre actually aiming to do and currently only have a scatter gun approach, doing random things that make you feel good like calling people baby killers and shouting free free Palestine in an aggressive manner.
